The AGA Virginia Peninsula and ASMC Hampton Roads Chapters are having a two-day training with a focus on “Commitment to Excellence”, geared towards all AGA and ASMC members and non-members in the government financial management field. This training day will benefit accountants, auditors, financial analysts, financial managers, budget analysts, performance managers, chief financial officers, information systems managers, finance directors, etc. employed at all levels of federal, state and local government organizations and in the private sector and academia. Attendees will be provided educational opportunities to earn up to 14 CPE and network with other government financial management professionals.

​Details for the AGA Virginia Peninsula and ASMC Hampton Roads Chapters’ Spring Professional Development Training 2017


​Theme: “Commitment to Excellence” 

Targeted Audience: This event is geared towards accountants, auditors, financial analysts, financial managers, budget analysts, performance managers, chief financial officers, information systems managers, finance directors, etc. employed at all levels of federal, state and local government organizations and in the private sector and academia. 

Attendee Registration Costs: Member’s Early Bird Special registration fee of $135 is available to current members of AGA and ASMC attending both days. Please take note, early Bird special ends March 10, 2017. As a benefit of AGA and ASMC membership, current AGA and ASMC members receive a value-priced registration fee of $145. Current membership will be verified by registration administrators. 

The registration fee for non-members is $190 for both days. Additionally, attendees who are full-time college students that are not employed full-time and attendees that are experiencing financial hardship due to lack of full-time employment, are eligible for a discounted rate of $75 for both days. Please email agavapen@gmail.com for more information on this option and registration administrators will manually register you. 

Reservations must be paid by March 15, 2017. After this date, unpaid reservations will be removed from the registration.

Continuing Professional Education: Attendees will be provided educational opportunities to earn up to 14 CPE. Expert speakers will cover various topics related to government financial management, such as governmental auditing, accounting, economics, finance, and leadership. 

A breakout of the topics and CPE fields of study will be provided and attendees are encouraged to retain this information for their training records. Upon verification of actual attendance, CPE certificates and an evaluation form will be emailed to attendees after the event. 

Meals: Continental breakfast, lunch and snacks with coffee/tea/water will be served for all attendees, speakers and sponsors.​

Networking: Attendees will be able to network with other government financial management professionals during breaks and meals. This event will allow attendees to catch up with colleagues and make new connections. We encourage attendees to bring business cards and other contact information ready to share with each other. 

Community Outreach: Attendees will have the opportunity to support FoodBank of Southeastern Virginia through voluntary fundraising donations.
