​Details for the AGA Virginia Peninsula and ASMC Hampton Roads Chapters’ Spring Professional Development Training 2016


​Theme: “Learn, Lead and Grow” 

Targeted Audience: This event is geared towards accountants, auditors, financial analysts, financial managers, budget analysts, performance managers, chief financial officers, information systems managers, finance directors, etc. employed at all levels of federal, state and local government organizations and in the private sector and academia. 

Attendee Registration Costs: Member’s Early Bird Special registration fee of $135 is available to current members of AGA and ASMC attending both days. Please take note, early Bird special ends March 01, 2016. As a benefit of AGA and ASMC membership, current AGA and ASMC members receive a value-priced registration fee of $145. Current membership will be verified by registration administrators. 

The registration fee for non-members is $190 for both days. Additionally, attendees who are full-time college students that are not employed full-time and attendees that are experiencing financial hardship due to lack of full-time employment, are eligible for a discounted rate of $75 for both days. Please email agavapen@gmail.com for more information on this option and registration administrators will manually register you. 

Reservations must be paid by March 1, 2016. After this date, unpaid reservations will be removed from the registration. 

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellation must be made by March 15, 2016 in order to receive refund. Substitution or proxy is allowed. 


Continuing Professional Education: Attendees will be provided educational opportunities to earn up to 14 CPE. Expert speakers will cover various topics related to government financial management, such as governmental auditing, accounting, economics, finance, and leadership. 

A breakout of the topics and CPE fields of study will be provided and attendees are encouraged to retain this information for their training records. Upon verification of actual attendance, CPE certificates and an evaluation form will be emailed to attendees after the event. 

Meals: Hot breakfast, lunch and snacks with coffee/tea/water will be served for all attendees, speakers and sponsors. ​

Networking: Attendees will be able to network with other government financial management professionals during breaks and meals. This event will allow attendees to catch up with colleagues and make new connections. We encourage attendees to bring business cards and other contact information ready to share with each other. 

Community Outreach: Attendees will have the opportunity to support FoodBank of Southeastern Virginia through voluntary fundraising donations.

Travel Information


Parking is free at the ODU Higher Education Center. Special Event guests Parking is on Lot 3. Here's the direction to the ODU Higher ED guest parking:

From Princess Anne Road (opposite the Landstown High School) enter Concert Drive. 

The first building on the left side of the Concert Drive is the ODU Higher Education building. Turn left towards the building.

Facing the building turn right. You will see signs along the parking entrance. You will pass Lot 2 and the last entrance to the parking is Lot 3. This is the parking spot for the Special Event guests.

There is an entrance door near the parking Lot 3. 

The Lecture Hall is located on the 2nd floor room 244. Take the right hand side of the stairs and then left to the Hallway. The receptionist will place signs leading to the Lecture Hall for AGA/ASMC attendees.

The AGA Virginia Peninsula and ASMC Hampton Roads Chapters are having a two-day training with a focus on “Learn, Lead and Grow”, geared towards all AGA and ASMC members and non-members in the government financial management field. This training day will benefit accountants, auditors, financial analysts, financial managers, budget analysts, performance managers, chief financial officers, information systems managers, finance directors, etc. employed at all levels of federal, state and local government organizations and in the private sector and academia. Attendees will be provided educational opportunities to earn up to 14 CPE and network with other government financial management professionals.
